State whether the unit must operate alone or in parallel, which requirements are fixed, and whether used, rebuilt or new unused equipment is acceptable. Keep one comparison record for each candidate transformer. Record the project requirement, the candidate's serial-specific evidence, every unresolved difference and the person responsible for accepting it. A matching voltage ratio alone does not establish that a replacement is suitable.
Use a status such as evidence requested, under engineering review, accepted in writing or rejected. Keep the document date and revision beside each decision so an updated drawing or test result does not silently replace the basis of acceptance.
For example, if a candidate's headline MVA depends on forced cooling, ask which cooling equipment and auxiliary supply are included before comparing that rating with the site's required duty. This is an illustrative review question, not a statement about a listed unit or an engineering approval.

An available transformer still needs a technical review and an agreed release, inspection, preparation, loading and transport plan. Identify the required-on-site date and energization milestone so candidates can be screened against the actual outage schedule.
Any change in ratio, vector, impedance, tap range, BIL, losses, sound, cooling, fluid, terminals, dimensions, weight, protection interfaces, neutral duty, grounding, controls, or accessories can affect the system and installation.
A candidate may appear close on MVA and voltage but fail the fault-current, regulation, protection, parallel-operation, clearance, foundation, transport, or commissioning requirements. Maintain a written deviation schedule and an approval owner for every difference.
Confirm ownership or representation authority, serial identity, current location and condition, inspection access, test scope, included equipment, warranty provider, price, payment, removal and loading, freight responsibility, taxes, risk of loss, and the exact written availability basis.

Alongside the failed-unit nameplate, send the available test report, required continuous MVA and cooling arrangement, impedance requirement and basis, and any parallel-operation requirement. Identifying these early helps the project team evaluate candidate differences while J&J reviews supply and release dates.

Confirm directional MVA limits, phase displacement, grounding in normal and switching conditions, impedance on a common base, tap ranges, CTs, differential compensation and the bus-tie arrangement.
