The written proposal identifies the equipment offered, manufacturing and certification evidence available, warranty terms and delivery responsibilities. Prepare an exact-ratio or multi-unit transformer request
A useful first inquiry gives the required winding ratio, continuous MVA, quantity, accepted condition and site date. For multiple configurations, use one group per ratio and duty, then record documents and delivery scope against each offered unit.

What belongs in a power-equipment vendor packet?
A project team may request legal entity and remit-to information, W-9, banking verification through an approved secure process, certificate of insurance for the contracted scope, safety or quality policies, sanctions/export representations, references policy, cybersecurity or data-handling information, and any OEM/authorized relationship actually claimed. Availability varies by transaction and should not be fabricated.

How should procurement compare transformer quotes?
Normalize the exact ratings, standard editions, test scope, losses, impedance basis, fluid, accessories, controls, condition, documents, warranty provider, spares, site work, freight, taxes/tariffs, payment, validity and milestone definitions. A lower base price can hide missing oil, bushings, coolers, tests, freight or field work.

Normalize net versus gross/ISO output, duty, fuel, ambient/altitude, emissions basis, electrical generator inclusion, voltage/frequency/PF, controls, auxiliaries, inlet/exhaust, cooling, switchgear, black start, GSU, hours/starts, maintenance, condition, documents, installation, commissioning, warranty/support, freight and schedule.
What do Incoterms and freight boundaries need to state?
State the named place and current Incoterms rule/version, then list physical scope separately: export packing, inland origin transport, port, ocean, tariffs/taxes/customs, destination port, heavy haul/rail, permits, escorts, cranes, offload, oil, assembly, storage, field tests and site handoff. An Incoterm does not describe every technical handling obligation.
What logistics information is required for a large GSU or substation transformer?
Obtain verified shipping dimensions and weights, oil-filled and shipping weight, shipping split, center of gravity, lifting/jacking points, rail/truck/vessel suitability, bushing/radiator removal, oil/preservation plan, route and bridge review, permits, port/crane windows, shock monitoring, weather/storage, assembly and post-move tests.
How should transformer losses be evaluated?
Compare guaranteed no-load and load losses at stated voltage, frequency, load, tap and temperature, plus auxiliary cooling power and the owner’s capitalization factors. Do not accept “high efficiency” in place of numerical guarantees and regulatory evidence where applicable.
How should warranty be compared on new, surplus and used equipment?
Identify the warrantor, covered equipment, start event, duration, location/transfer restrictions, remedies, labor/freight responsibility, exclusions, maintenance requirements, claim process, parts availability and whether the seller can actually pass through OEM coverage. A seller’s statement is not an OEM warranty.
Buying a replacement or planning a spare?
Compare the offered transformer with the operating unit and the project specification. Keep the winding duty, cooling-stage ratings, technical deviations, inspection scope and delivery responsibilities beside the quoted price.
Request documents for the complete electrical package
Match the document schedule to each equipment family: transformer drawings and tests, switchboard one-line and device schedule, busway route and component list, and UPS model, battery, runtime and bypass records. Keep the offered model and document revision beside each quoted item.
Step-down RFQ and acceptance evidence
Keep source/output voltages, required continuous duty, permitted operating direction and the offered nameplate ratings distinct in the equipment comparison. Can J&J provide a W-9?
Ask J&J during transaction diligence. The public site does not represent a current W-9 as pre-approved or publicly available; any tax document must be confirmed and exchanged through the appropriate procurement process.
Can J&J provide insurance documents?
A certificate can be discussed for the contracted scope and named parties when applicable; coverage should never be assumed from web copy.
Which Incoterm should a project team use?
Select the term and named place with procurement/logistics counsel based on control, risk, taxes, import, route and site capabilities.
Does DDP mean installed?
No. DDP addresses delivery/import responsibilities to a named place; installation, offload, assembly, testing and commissioning must be stated separately.
How should loss data be compared?
Use guaranteed numerical no-load/load losses at common conditions and the same evaluation factors.
What should FAT include?
The purchaser specification should list tests, standards/editions, setup, tolerances, witness, reports, findings, correction and retest rules.
Does a used transformer have a warranty?
Only if an identified warrantor offers written terms. Condition testing is not a warranty.
