A lower base price can hide missing oil, bushings, coolers, tests, freight or field work.

What do Incoterms and freight boundaries need to state?

Obtain verified shipping dimensions and weights, oil-filled and shipping weight, shipping split, center of gravity, lifting/jacking points, rail/truck/vessel suitability, bushing/radiator removal, oil/preservation plan, route and bridge review, permits, port/crane windows, shock monitoring, weather/storage, assembly and post-move tests.
How should transformer losses be evaluated?
Compare guaranteed no-load and load losses at stated voltage, frequency, load, tap and temperature, plus auxiliary cooling power and the owner’s capitalization factors. Do not accept “high efficiency” in place of numerical guarantees and regulatory evidence where applicable.
How should warranty be compared on new, surplus and used equipment?
Identify the warrantor, covered equipment, start event, duration, location/transfer restrictions, remedies, labor/freight responsibility, exclusions, maintenance requirements, claim process, parts availability and whether the seller can actually pass through OEM coverage. A seller’s statement is not an OEM warranty.

A certificate can be discussed for the contracted scope and named parties when applicable; coverage should never be assumed from web copy.
Which Incoterm should a project team use?
Select the term and named place with procurement/logistics counsel based on control, risk, taxes, import, route and site capabilities.
Does DDP mean installed?
No. DDP addresses delivery/import responsibilities to a named place; installation, offload, assembly, testing and commissioning must be stated separately.
How should loss data be compared?
Use guaranteed numerical no-load/load losses at common conditions and the same evaluation factors.
What should FAT include?
The purchaser specification should list tests, standards/editions, setup, tolerances, witness, reports, findings, correction and retest rules.
Does a used transformer have a warranty?
Only if an identified warrantor offers written terms. Condition testing is not a warranty.
