New manufacture, unused surplus and canceled-project equipment
New power transformers for sale can include a factory order or an already-built unit that has never entered service. Unused surplus is equipment no longer required by its original project. A manufacture year or an unused description does not establish present condition, complete accessories or an active OEM warranty.
What supports a never-energized transformer offer?
Request the unit-specific nameplate, manufacture records, factory tests, storage and preservation history, recent photographs and written condition statement. Reconcile the nameplate identity with the drawings and reports for each selected unit. A factory test date is separate from a current inspection date.
- Confirm oil or nitrogen preservation, bushings, radiators, cooling equipment and loose-shipped accessories.
- Identify outstanding checks and whether an inspection or updated electrical test is required before acceptance.
- Obtain the warranty provider, coverage period, start date and transfer conditions in writing.
Compare new GSU and substation transformers
Match all MVA cooling stages, high- and low-side voltages, winding connections, tertiary duty, frequency, impedance and its MVA base, insulation levels and tap equipment. A generator step-up application and a receiving substation can have different winding and protection requirements even at similar ratings.
Already built does not establish a site delivery date
Confirm seller release, final allocation, inspection, preparation, packing, loading and transportation before accepting a delivery commitment. Separate shipment readiness from arrival and energization. Send the required quantity, destination and needed-on-site date with your specification.
Common questions
Written quotes and supporting records control unit-specific ratings, availability, condition, price, and delivery.
Does J&J sell brand-new power transformers?
J&J lists represented new, never-used and never-energized transformer opportunities and reviews new equipment requirements. Each listing states its condition and supporting evidence; current availability and final scope require written confirmation.
Is unused surplus the same as a used transformer?
No. Unused surplus has not entered service as represented in its records. Previously energized equipment has a service history, while a rebuilt unit has a separate work scope. Review the specific unit rather than relying on a category label.
Are factory tests proof of current condition?
Factory reports describe the equipment at the test date. Storage, preservation, transport and subsequent work must also be reviewed; request current inspection or testing evidence where the project requires it.
