Transformer and Switchgear Buying Checklist

Use this checklist to prepare an equipment inquiry and compare quotations on the same basis. It covers substation transformers, pad-mounted transformers and switchgear lineups. Keep the individual equipment reference beside every rating and condition statement so the quotation, nameplate, drawings and test records describe the same unit or build configuration.

What to include in an equipment purchase inquiry

Send the controlling specification and one-line, then fill any open items in this comparison. Mark unknown information as a question rather than assuming two quotations include the same scope.

Compare shipment, delivery and commissioning separately

Ask which milestone each offered date describes: factory completion, seller release, ready for shipment, arrival at port, arrival at site or commissioning. Confirm inspection, packing, loading, freight, receiving and installation responsibilities. An unused description or historical test report does not establish present readiness or an active OEM warranty.

Common questions

Written quotes and supporting records control unit-specific ratings, availability, condition, price, and delivery.

Does this checklist replace the project engineering specification?
