One equipment schedule from utility service to campus distribution
Separate the incoming substation transformer, campus distribution transformers and switchgear lineups into clear purchase groups. A 300 MVA substation transformer, a group of 2500 kVA padmounts and a medium-voltage feeder lineup have different technical records, production decisions and delivery milestones.
| Equipment group | Requirement to send | Review destination |
|---|---|---|
| Utility-side power transformers | 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400 or 500+ MVA project requirements; exact winding voltages and duty | Actual unit records, acceptable alternatives and current release timing |
| Campus padmounts and dry types | 500-10,000 kVA by configuration; quantity, voltage ratio and arrival phase | New OEM build schedule or a matching existing opportunity |
| Medium-voltage switchgear | Voltage class, bus current, interrupting duty, main/tie/feeder schedule and quantities | Complete lineup, protection, controls and factory test scope |
| Breakers and related distribution | Device type, ratings, interfaces, spare quantities and delivery dates | Model-specific compatibility and included accessories |
High-MVA transformer records for 138 kV, 230 kV, 345 kV and 500 kV systems
Start with the actual source and load buses, cooling-stage MVA, winding connections and required date. Existing opportunities include documented 138/34.5 kV, 230/34.5 kV and 345/34.5 kV records, plus a 525/69 kV SMIT record for review against a 500 kV-system requirement. Published ratings, available quantity and allowed operating duty stay attached to each unit.
Order by power-on phase, quantity and required arrival
For a large campus, send the required-on-site date for each transformer bank and distribution group rather than one date for the entire project. Identify equipment that must be identical, any proposed parallel operation, required spares and whether partial deliveries are useful.
- Keep utility acceptance, equipment arrival, site installation and energization as separate milestones.
- Identify the controlling specification, one-line, approved alternatives and required origin or listing evidence.
- Confirm included bushings, radiators, controls, relays, accessories and transport preparation for each offered unit.
- Assign a drawing, inspection and commercial-release decision to each purchase group.
Nine-week OEM delivery target and fast-release inventory
J&J targets nine weeks for qualifying new OEM equipment, including pad-mounted and dry-type transformers from 500 to 10,000 kVA, switchgear and breakers. The target includes manufacturing, agreed factory testing and shipping to the quoted destination after PO, approved drawings and production release. The factory confirms the configuration, quantity, production slot and site-arrival date in the written quotation. Large high-voltage power transformers have a separate unit-specific release and delivery schedule.
- OEM nine-week target, production release and delivered scope
- Existing transformer and power-equipment opportunities
| Supply route | Equipment scope | Delivery basis |
|---|---|---|
| Existing equipment | Documented new/unused, surplus, used or rebuilt transformer opportunities | Confirm the actual unit, allocation, inspection, preparation and transport before accepting the arrival date |
| New OEM programme | 500-10,000 kVA padmount and dry-type requirements, switchgear, breakers and quoted related equipment | Target nine weeks for qualifying configurations; factory slot, quantity and destination confirmed in the quotation |
| Large high-voltage transformers | High-MVA substation and GSU units, replacements and manufacturing positions | Individual written schedule; the nine-week distribution-equipment target does not set the schedule for a large power transformer |
Get the unit evidence and commercial scope your engineering team needs
Request the exact unit identification and available nameplate, winding and outline drawings, factory tests, preservation or service history, warranty and accessory schedule. J&J can coordinate the equipment quotation; your responsible project team approves technical suitability and site integration.
Email a hyperscale substation or campus power RFQ
Email Tommy Marco at tommy@jjtransformers.com or call 346-276-9540. A short email or your existing equipment schedule is enough to start; attach the one-line or specification if available.
- Project phase, site, procurement contact and needed-on-site dates
- Transformer quantity, continuous MVA, complete winding voltages and acceptable condition
- Padmount and dry-type schedule from 500 kVA upward
- Switchgear lineup, breaker schedule, protection and controls
- Required documents, inspection, warranty, delivery and receiving scope
Common questions
Written quotes and supporting records control unit-specific ratings, availability, condition, price, and delivery.
Can J&J support a hyperscale data-center substation equipment request?
Yes. J&J accepts high-MVA transformer, high-voltage substation equipment and downstream distribution requirements from hyperscale, colocation, utility and EPC teams. Send the one-line, equipment schedule, quantities, site and project dates for an equipment-specific quotation.
Can I request 100-500+ MVA transformers for a large project?
Yes. Send the exact continuous MVA, cooling stages, winding voltages, quantity, acceptable condition and dates. J&J reviews the requirement against actual equipment records and other sourcing options. A requested rating is not a claim that every size is currently in stock.
Does nine-week delivery apply to a 300 MVA or 500 kV transformer?
No. The nine-week target is for qualifying new OEM distribution equipment and quoted lineups. A large high-voltage power transformer needs its own unit-specific allocation, testing, preparation and transport schedule.
Can the same project RFQ include bulk padmounts, dry types and switchgear?
Yes. Send separate rating and quantity groups for each equipment family, with a required arrival date for every phase. The quotation identifies the manufacturer, technical scope and delivery commitment for each group.
Do I need to complete a long form to request a quote?
No. Email tommy@jjtransformers.com directly. An existing specification, equipment schedule or short description is enough to begin.
