Define the switchboard assembly and its devices
State whether you need a complete switchboard, individual circuit breakers or an integrated distribution package. Eaton's IFS family has configurations through 4000A; the offered assembly still needs its own documented voltage, fault ratings, device schedule and project acceptance.
| Input | What the quote should address |
|---|---|
| Assembly | System voltage, frequency, bus current, required fault ratings, construction and enclosure. |
| Devices | Main, tie and feeder references; quantities; frame/trip requirements; fixed or draw-out mounting. |
| Controls | Transfer sequence, interlocks, protection, metering, control power and communications. |
| Connections | Transformer and busway interfaces, cable entry, section dimensions and access. |
Keep feeder quantities separate from lineup quantities
Give each lineup a reference and show which feeders belong to it. A project total does not tell the factory how to distribute devices between boards, and transformer quantity alone does not establish the feeder schedule.
Planning example: two lineups with six 800A feeders each require twelve feeders in total. Identify the assigned feeders on each one-line and keep the twelve-device project total beside the per-lineup schedule. This illustrates how to organize a request; it does not select bus ratings, approve load allocation or describe an available board.
Compare breaker, control and connection scope
List what is included before comparing switchboard prices: mains, tie devices, feeders, trip units, metering, interlocks, transfer controls and loose-shipped parts. Record any equipment supplied by another party and the interface it must meet.
A 4000A breaker rating does not establish the complete board rating. Likewise, a switchboard offer does not automatically include every ATS, control cabinet or busway connection shown on the project drawing. Ask for the lineup drawing and an itemized device schedule, then have the responsible project team review exceptions.
9–11 week OEM delivery target with DDP
The 9–11 week delivery target covers all listed OEM equipment, including transformers through 10 MVA / 10,000 kVA. This total window includes manufacturing, factory testing and shipping to the customer’s site. It starts after PO, approved drawings and the agreed commercial production release. The quotation confirms configuration, quantity, factory allocation, destination and the arrival date.
DDP is included in the confirmed quotation: agreed freight, import clearance and applicable import duties to the named delivery point. Offloading, installation, field testing and commissioning are separate unless expressly included. Equipment above 10 MVA has a separately reviewed schedule.
Send Tommy your equipment requirement

J&J Transformers LLC is your independent equipment supplier. The written offer identifies the manufacturer, model, manufacturing entity, required compliance evidence, warranty terms and included equipment. Existing new, unused and pre-owned inventory is reviewed separately from these new-build requests.
Low-voltage switchboard pricing by assembly scope
For low-voltage switchboards for sale, state system voltage, bus current, available fault duty, main and feeder devices, enclosure and section layout. Keep the assembly's rating and documentation distinct from the ratings of individual breakers.
- Confirm neutral/ground arrangement, incoming service, metering, protection, cable entry and dimensions against the design.
- Request the actual assembly drawings, included devices and available listing or test documentation required by the project.
Common questions
Written quotes and supporting records control unit-specific ratings, availability, condition, price, and delivery.
Can J&J quote a 4000A main-tie-main switchboard?
Yes. Provide the project one-line, required assembly and breaker ratings, main/tie/feeder schedule, controls and enclosure. The quotation confirms the actual manufacturer, configuration and included devices.
Is a 4000A circuit breaker the same as a 4000A switchboard?
No. A breaker is a device within a defined equipment arrangement. Request the complete assembly ratings, compatible devices and lineup documents rather than using the breaker label as proof of the board's rating.
Should feeder quantities be per lineup or for the whole project?
Provide both. Identify each feeder's assigned lineup and retain the project total separately. This makes quantity, layout and quotation differences visible before drawing approval.
Does a switchboard quotation include ATS equipment and controls?
Only when the written scope includes them. Identify transfer functions, controls, interlocks, metering and each related device on the equipment schedule, with any third-party interfaces and exclusions.
Does a switchboard's bus amp rating establish its suitability for my installation?
No. Match voltage, fault duty, main/feeder devices, protection, neutral/grounding, enclosure, dimensions and assembly documentation. The responsible project team must approve the actual assembly and its application.
