How do you compare a 2 MW generator with a generator fleet?

Start with the per-unit duty rating. Six 2 MW sets represent 12 MW of stated prime output before project-specific adjustments; standby, prime and continuous ratings are separate. Confirm how many sets must run, reserve capacity, maintenance coverage, fuel supply, output voltage and synchronization scope.

What transformer rating does a megawatt generator need?

Use the required apparent-power duty and the actual generator voltage as starting inputs. MW divided by power factor gives a preliminary MVA figure; cooling, site conditions, auxiliaries, future load, operating mode and the approved design still control transformer selection.

Is 2000 kW the same as 2500 kVA?

These are real-power and apparent-power ratings. At 0.8 power factor, 2500 kVA corresponds to 2000 kW. Confirm that both figures use the same duty and conditions for the specific equipment.
